As well as our service for installing replacement door locks, we also can have a lock installation service. This is a service where we retro fit an additional door lock to increase the level of security of your door. The two most common types of locks we retro fit are night latch locks and a 5 lever dead bolt locks.
Types of Locks
Night Latch lock
A night latch lock can be added to most wooden doors, and can be installed in conjunction with existing multi point door locks. With this type of lock installed in your door, it will prevent unwanted guests from simply pushing down the door handle and walking in. You will require the key on the outside every time to open the door. The inside section of the night latch door lock has a turn knob which is easily turned to open the lock in case a quick escape is required. An added benefit of installing a night latch lock in your door is that it can prevent small children from pushing down the door handle and getting out.
5 Lever Dead Bolt Lock
Some insurance companies now require that 5 lever dead bolt locks be fitted on all external doors. 5 lever dead bolt door locks are installed into older wooden doors, and are commonly used in conjunction with a night latch door lock. A dead bolt lock is used to increase the level of security in a door.
What is the PSA?
The Private Security Authority is a government body set up to regulate the many sections of the security industry including burglar alarm installation, cash in transit vehicles and locksmiths. From the 1st of February 2017, any person who in the course of a business, trade or profession provides locksmith services including installing, opening, maintaining, repairing, or servicing of door and window locks, must have a PSA locksmith licence.
